About

Hello!

My name is John.

I’m in my 50s and grew up an hour and a half outside of New York City.

I’ve been married almost as long as I haven’t. My wife and I have two children.

I care for four cats, two dogs, and a 10-plus-year-old goldfish. In addition, I like to feed the birds during the winter.

Writing doesn’t come naturally to me. However, once I review it a few dozen times, my prose becomes passable.

Grammarly helps immensely with my writing. I feel like an English teacher is looking over my shoulder—a very strict English teacher at that!

Trust your intuition

I took the Myers-Briggs test and got INFJ. I can’t say if this is true or not. I’m not going to debate it either.

Since I was a child I’ve been told to ignore my intuition; for this reason I’m only now starting to trust it now.

I wish I had started listening sooner.

Many posts on this blog were started when I ruminated on something for days, weeks, months, years or a liftetime.

When intuition summoned the answer I wrote is down to share ‘someday’.

There is No Defining Moment in Healing From Emotional Trauma

This blog is someday.

Why I created understandingpeople.blog

All my life, I’ve wanted to understand people, particularly those who raised me.

There are many moments in life, especially in my childhood, that I still can’t explain.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to.

In recent years, I’ve been stunned by how transparent some people can be.

At the same time, I can’t figure out how I let those very people take advantage of me.

UnderstandingPeople.blog attempts to share what I’ve learned and more.

Let’s begin.
